Grand Canal in Spring Sunshine
This is a painting from a sketch i did early last March. The day was so bright and sunny. A rare occasion, as it was a dreadful month. I took the opportunity and did a watercolour sketch first to get the bones of what i wanted. It's such an attractive canal buzzing with activity; from walkers, wildlife, and barges more than likely moored at a reedbed. What i wanted to achieve was the colours and mood. The old London plane tree (left) anchors the painting and leads you along the pathway to the figures.
