'Granuaile' Dun Laoghaire
Studio watercolour of the 'Granuaile': 'bouy laying vessel' moored in Dun Laoghaire Harbour last week. I love ships and all kinds of boats and marine life alike. This is a ship that's really familar to me - i painted it when she was docked in London's Rotherhithe some years back. I can't be certain as she was commissioned, yr 2000..
I loved painting this attractive vessel. She still looks beautiful after eighteen years on the water. She does coastal trips around the Irish coastline and attends to the bouy's at sea. These are not small bouys, some would be 15'ft tall! That's why she has large cranes, as you can see from the watercolour. I did a watercolour sketch before tackling this painting where you can find on my blogpage.
