I love the sea and all it has to offer. This is a special place to me. I feel at 'home' here. On this particular afternoon i did a preliminary watercolour sketch it was cold, very cold! I had to hide behind a wall for cover from the biting wind. I wanted to paint it there and then, even though the sketch was not very presentable, but to me, it was a map to where i wanted to go.
This is an area off the West Pier. Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. It's a small pier where trawlers come and go several times daily with their catch. It's all stored in the large squared shaped building right of painting - commonly called: 'the ice box'. The trawlers half in sight is what attracted me to capture this scene.
