June Sunshine at Seapoint
Seapoint has been a really favourite location of mine since childhood. This is where I completed many watercolour paintings, oils and sketches.
This particular painting done on a really hot June afternoon. Before hand, i initally took a few photos and sketches to get a good understanding of contrast and shadow direction. The sun was 'splitting the trees'. (The best summer we've had in many years.) Children were having fun in and out of the water, adults indulging in conversation, while topping up their tans, and teenagers competing with each others iphones while lazing around swigging coke-a-cola's.
I was happy with the over-all composition and finish. Mixing in all the elements of a lively painting. The anchor of the work is the couple to the left, where your lead through the long pathway round to the right leading up to the martello battery tower; which really holds/centres the whole painting.
